Google Gemini Launches Tools to Import Memories and Chat History From Rival AI Chatbots

Google Gemini launches two new desktop features — 'Import Memory' and 'Import Chat History' — making it easier than ever for users to switch from rival AI chatbots by transferring their preferences and conversation history directly into Gemini.

• Google Gemini is rolling out new 'Import Memory' and 'Import Chat History' features on desktop, allowing users to quickly transfer their preferences and conversation history from other AI chatbots into Gemini.
• The 'Import Memory' tool works by having users copy a suggested prompt into their previous AI and paste the response back into Gemini, while 'Import Chat History' allows users to upload a .zip file of up to 5GB containing exported chats from another AI platform.
• The new features are available to free and paid consumer Gemini accounts on desktop, but are currently unavailable to business, enterprise, and under-18 users — Google is also renaming 'past chats' in Gemini to 'memory' as part of this update.
